Euro 2008: selecção nacional recebida com entusiasmo na Suíça

"Milhares de emigrantes portugueses acolheram hoje em euforia a selecção portuguesa de futebol, que ao final da tarde chegou à Suíça, um dos palcos do Euro 2008.
Depois do banho de multidão em Lisboa – tanto à saída do Palácio de Belém como à chegada ao aeroporto – a comitiva portuguesa tinha à sua espera no aeroporto de Genebra cerca de quatro mil adeptos, vestidos a rigor com as cores da bandeira nacional.
O avião que transportou a selecção aterrou às 20h20 locais (19h20 em Lisboa), após duas horas de viagem, e os jogadores embarcaram de imediato no autocarro que irá assegurar as suas deslocações nas próximas semanas.
Em contraste com a chegada discreta e rápida da selecção Turquia, horas antes, o autocarro da comitiva portuguesa passou pela concentração de apoiantes em marcha lenta, permitindo a aproximação dos adeptos concentrados há várias horas no local, muitos dos quais aproveitaram para tirar fotografias.
Alguns quilómetros à frente, o autocarro de Portugal tinha à sua espera cerca de dois mil “motards”, que vão acompanhar a equipa nos 130 quilómetros de percurso entre Genebra de Neuchâtel, base da selecção portuguesa durante o Euro. Na cidade, há vários dias engalanada com o verde e vermelho da bandeira portuguesa, é esperada nova recepção entusiasta por parte dos milhares de portugueses que residem naquele cantão suíço.
Portugal integra o grupo A do Euro2008 de futebol e estreia-se no próximo sábado frente à selecção turca, num grupo que conta ainda com a Suíça, co-organizadora da prova com a Áustria, e a República Checa."
Parece-me que os suíços não sabem o que os espera com a organização do EURO.... No outro dia estive a ouvir umas entrevistas de rua.... o jornalista perguntava a pessoas de Genebra o que achavam do Euro, e as respostas variavam entre:
"Não estou nada entusiasmada.... vão fazer muito barulho e so vai trazer desorganização à cidade";
"Não sei.... vou ter que manter a loja aberta até mais tarde" ;
"Vêm para cá os vandalos do futebol".... e
"Vai ser ainda pior do que durante o mundial, com toda a gente na rua a fazer barulho e a festejar.... sem se importar com o resto das pessoas que no dia seguinte têm que ir trabalhar!"
Estas respostas não são as que se espera numa cidade que se está a preparar para o Euro pelo menos há 2 anos!

Uma sala cheia é sempre intimidatória... Uma sala cheia de pesos pesados da area em discussão e mais umas tantas filas de caras conhecidas... despoleta em mim um nervosismo exagerado que me aconselha (pela primeira vez em muito tempo) a falar sentada....
Penso... afinal são só uns slides e nao uma série de 'fuetés'...
Primeiros acordes... sorrisinho amarelo, posição adoptada a fim de esconder body language.... piadinha inicial... off we go.... afinal... gesticulo com mãos e voz.... não há duvidas, ninguém adormece.... conclusões.... já está!

SO ladies & gentleman... human behaviour is very complex and knowledge does not always implies a certain behaviour... let's have a look to the results by smith et al 2003 about sexual behaviour during an HIV conference:
- Virtually all participants of the conference knew that HIV was transmitted via sexual contact;
- Virtually all participants of the conference knew that the use of a condom prevents sexual transmission of HIV/AIDS
- Only 1/3 of the participants of the conference that had sex during this very same conference.... used a condom!
Ouvi isto durante uma das sessões sobre marketing social que fazia parte do programa duma conferencia dedicada a .... hortofrutícolas!

Litle_Red_Comunist
O meu querido pinkie ipod de Barbie, prenda de um importante acontecimento de 2004, está quase em estado vegetativo... a bateria morreu e ele só dá sinal de vida uns 5 minutos por dia, depois ter estado a carregar toda a noite....
No sentido de lhe preservar alguma dignidade pedi a alguém com uma breve estadia nos EUA para me trazer uma doquinha (basicamente a doca é o respirador do ipod... permite-lhe tocar como se a bateria estivesse lá, apesar de eu saber que há muito que ela se juntou a outras baterias de ipods séniors que se passeiam pelo paraíso colorido que a apple criou para os seus ipods... assim, se encaixado na doquinha, o ipod sente-se útil e feliz e eu também porque gosto muito da música que ele me dá :).
Ontem a doquinha chegou, e com ela chegou também o senhor que se segue... Um maravilhoso nano ipod que eu decidi acolher de braços abertos e pronta a dedicar-lhe toda a atenção que ele merece!!!
Na encomenda do ipod substituto havia duas possibilidades de cores: vermelho ou rosa.
Quem comprou fez a escolha certa: o vermelho!!!! Sim... condiz com os meus óculos e tudo!!!
Depois da felicidade de o ver e do ritual de o tirar da caixa tentando não o partir, achei por bem baptiza-lo (nao va acontecer-lhe alguma e depois ele fica a vaguear pelo limbo para os ipods não baptizados)... e assim, depois de meia duzia de clicks e do preenchimento de 2 ou 3 formulários, nasceu no meu itunes o: litle red comunist!!!!
Ora um grande bem haja para quem o trouxe para este lado do atlântico e também para a apple que faz destas coisa bonitas que me permitem ser consumista e ficar feliz com o resultado!

Ban Ki-moon is coming to town....
Ban Ki-moon to lead task force to tackle global food crisis
29 April 2008 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today that he will lead a high-powered task force to coordinate the efforts of the United Nations system in addressing the global crisis arising from the surge in food prices.
The Task Force on the Global Food Crisis will bring together the heads of UN agencies, funds and programmes and the Bretton Woods institutions, as well as experts within the UN and leading authorities from the international community.
The group will have two coordinators – Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs John Holmes in New York and Senior UN System Influenza Coordinator David Nabarro in Geneva – and expects to meet in the first week of May.
The announcement came after a two-day meeting of the Chief Executive Board (CEB) – which brings together 27 heads of UN agencies, funds and programmes – chaired by the Secretary-General in the Swiss city of Bern.
In a press communiqué issued following the meeting, the CEB called on the international community to urgently provide the $755 million in emergency funds needed for the UN to feed millions of hungry people worldwide, as the first of a series of concrete measures to be taken.
“We see mounting hunger and increasing evidence of malnutrition which has severely strained the capacities of humanitarian agencies to meet humanitarian needs, especially as promised funding has not yet materialized,” Mr. Ban told a news conference in Bern.
He warned that “without full funding of these emergency requirements, we risk again the spectre of widespread hunger, malnutrition and social unrest on an unprecedented scale.”
Protests and riots have broken out in some countries over the rising cost of many basic foods, such as rice, wheat and corn. Mr. Ban noted that escalating energy prices, lack of investment in agriculture, increasing demand, trade distortion subsidies and recurrent bad weather are among the reasons for the surge in prices.
The food crisis “threatens to undo all our good work,” Mr. Ban noted later in the day in a lecture delivered in Geneva. “If not managed properly, it could touch off a cascade of related crises – affecting trade, economic growth, social progress and even political security around the world.”
In addition to the immediate priority of feeding the hungry, Mr. Ban emphasized the need to “ensure food for tomorrow,” by giving small farmers the support they need to assure their next harvest.
UN agencies are already taking concrete measures to address the crisis. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has proposed an emergency initiative to provide low-income countries with the seeds and inputs to boost production and is calling for $1.7 billion in funding.
In addition, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is making available an additional $200 million to poor farmers in the most affected countries to boost food production.
“I am confident that we can deal with the global food crisis. We have the resources. We have the knowledge. We know what to do. We should therefore consider this not only as a problem but also as an opportunity,” the Secretary-General added, as he called on world leaders to attend the High-Level Conference on Food Security, to be held in Rome from 3 to 5 June.

Ah.... o belo do jornalista
Oh pá... muitos anos a ver o telejornal, ouvir radio, ler entrevistas, artigos e reportagens não abonam nada a fraca opinião que eu tenho sobre a classe profissional dos jornalistas....Sobre alguns (muitos mesmo) deles chego mesmo a pensar como é que eles arranjaram os seus trabalhos???
É que eu tive que passar muitas entrevistas, e a cada contrato de 2, 3, 4 ou 5 meses tenho que fazer avaliação e sentar-me com o chefe a passar os olhos na performance.... agora.... como é que alguns deles chegaram onde chegaram gostava eu de saber....?
Será que alguém, em algum momento das suas carreiras os chama à parte e lhes diz "Oh pá, e que tal se começasses a fazer perguntas decentes?"
Questiono-me....
E o que esteve na origem de tal reflexão? Uma pergunta chegada via novas tecnologias de comunicação.... "O iogurte cura? O iogurte é um alimento que pode curar?"
Haja paciência......
É que eu tive que passar muitas entrevistas, e a cada contrato de 2, 3, 4 ou 5 meses tenho que fazer avaliação e sentar-me com o chefe a passar os olhos na performance.... agora.... como é que alguns deles chegaram onde chegaram gostava eu de saber....?
Será que alguém, em algum momento das suas carreiras os chama à parte e lhes diz "Oh pá, e que tal se começasses a fazer perguntas decentes?"
